Outreach in Eye Foundation Hospital Group was borne out of the Founder’s dream to “make a quiet impact in the field of sight restoration and prevention of blindness in Nigeria”

This led to the establishment of Eye Foundation Hospital as a Public-Private Mix organization where the management of funds is undertaken with frugality, honesty and focused generosity to create more abundant and lasting wealth to be used to the benefit of the society, especially the less privileged ones.

The principle behind this Public-Private Mix approach to Eye Care delivery system is to have both a self sustainable Private Eye Hospital and a Charity Eye Hospital, financially supported by the Private one.

“The Deseret Eye Centers and Eye Foundation Center for Prevention of Blindness was borne out of this desire- to reach out to the less privileged”

We have jointly provided free quality eye care services for over two million less privileged persons, performed over 200,000 surgical operations, and have given out over 150,000 eye glasses free of charge within Nigeria and Ghana, especially in the rural areas.

Eye foundation Hospital Group has made tremendous progress in this regard.

The pride and satisfaction from he progress we have made is tempered by the magnitude of the challenge that lies ahead. Over 10 million Nigerians are needlessly blind or visually handicapped and majority of these people reside in rural areas where modern eye care facilities are scarce.

We rely entirely on the support of those that understand the importance of our work and recognize the fact that when we are in the service of our fellow human beings, we are in the service of God and we can strive to meet our pledge to be ‘always there’ for the people who feel they have nowhere to turn.
