Dr Mildred Ulaikere is an ophthalmologist specialized in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus with the Eye foundation Group Hospitals.
She obtained a Bachelors of Medicine/Bachelors of Surgery at the University of Benin Nigeria in 1992. She then had her residency training at the University College Hospital Ibadan Nigeria where she obtained the fellowships in Ophthalmology of both the National and the West African College of Surgeons in 2003. She went further to obtain a fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Red Cross War Memorial Hospital for Children, University of Capetown, South Africa in 2007.
Dr Mildred is very proficient in lensectomy with anterior vitrectomy surgery for paediatric cataracts, angle surgery for paediatric glaucomas, amblyopia management, surgery for simple and complex strabismus in both paediatric and adult patients, phacoemulsification with foldable intraocular lenses of a wide range for adult cataracts.
She is a member of the National and West African College of Surgeons College. She is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology . She has attended various scientific conferences both at home and abroad in which she has presented a number of papers.
She is a winner of the Novartis Excellence in Ophthalmology Vision Award . She also heads a project being carried out by the community arm, the Deseret Community Vision Institute, where she performs highly subsidized paediatric cataract surgeries on less priviledged blind and visually impaired children as well as providing subspecialty services to this population.
