General advice (pre-, during and post surgery)

ADVICE / PROTOCOL BEFORE SURGERY

  • The affected eye for surgery will be dilated with eye drops so as to gain access to area for surgery.
  •  Patient must  keep eye closed after drug instillation.
  • The eye to be operated will be injected to prevent pains during surgery if surgery is under local anaesthesia.
  • For patients for general anaesthesia must avoid food or drinks 8-10hours before surgery

ADVICE / PROTOCOL DURING SURGERY

  • Talking  during surgery is prohibited as it can affect the surgery negatively.
  • Patient should be absolutely calm during surgery .

ADVICE / PROTOCOL AFTER SURGERY

  • Patient must to be very careful after surgery so as not to bang or hit head against any thing as the IOL can dislocate.
  • Patient should not to bend over to pick any thing for at least two weeks after surgery so as to avoid exact pressure on the eye.
  • Patient should use face towel to clean face for the first one to two weeks after surgery, this is to avoid soapy fluid in the eye which can promote infection.
  •  Patient must keep follow up appointment after surgery, this will allow close monitoring of the operated eye.
